Rubber Capping Equipment for Concrete Cylinders
According to AS 1012.9, a restrained natural rubber capping system may be used to cap concrete cylinder specimens for compression tests, where the compressive strength is expected to be between 10 and 80 MPa.
Our rubber capping equipment comprises: rubber cap, steel restraining ring to hold and restrain the rubber cap, and centring ring to centre the rubber cap onto the cylinder end. The assembly is placed on the rough end of the cylinder, and upwards in the compression machine so that the steel restraining ring comes into contact with the upper spherical platen during testing.
The rubber caps can be reused several times and are available individually or in quantities as needed.
We offer the equipment in a variety of diameters and hardness specifications. Shore A durometer hardness 50-65 is suitable for standard concrete, 70-75 hardness can be used for higher strength concretes.
Standard caps are 110mm diameter for 100mm diameter cylinders, and 160mm diameter for 150mm diameter cylinders.
We also offer 102mm diameter caps as an option. The 102mm restraining ring is to be used with these caps.
All Geo-Con rubber caps are supplied complete with a certificate of compliance to AS 1012.9.
